Cérémonies commémoratives du 15 août - 80e Anniversaire du Débarquement de Provence

The town of Sainte-Maxime celebrates its new-found freedom and pays tribute to the French and Allied soldiers who took part in the liberation of France.

It also pays tribute to the men and women from all walks of life who overcame the mistrust of the occupation and united to resist, sometimes at the cost of their own lives.

ON THE PROGRAMME :

WEDNESDAY 14 AUGUST :
7pm: Flowering of the Fernand Bessy stele
7.30pm: Ceremony at the Monument aux Morts, Place Pasteur
8.45pm: Parade of the Fifes and Drums Tawpath Volunteers from Macedon Rochester (USA). Departure from the Church towards the Aire des Magnoti.
9pm: Concert by The Squartet - Laurence Monti, violin / Benoît Lévêque, double bass / Sébastien Monzoyer, accordion / Franck Russo, clarinet. Chapelle de la Nartelle (as part of the Nuits de la Nartelle festival)
9.30pm: ‘US Tribute Elvis’ evening at the Théâtre de la Mer

THURSDAY 15 AUGUST

8.30am: Stele of the 45th DIUS - La Garonnette
8.50am: RICM stele - La Nartelle
9.30am: Sherman tank - La Nartelle
10.05am: Quai Léon Condroyer
11am - Bollard N°1, promenade Simon-Lorière
11.45am - Parade of military vehicles from the Préconil bridge
12pm: Vin d'honneur at the Boulodrome Prince Bertil
Afternoon: Exhibition of military vehicles at Place Mermoz
10.30pm - Fireworks from the sea, Plage Luc Provensal
22h45 - Ball at the Théâtre de la Mer and US ball on the Place du Marché
