Two artists' views on the animal cause. They complement each other and respond in a colorful and vibrant language.
Olivier BERTRAND - "I have always been fascinated by the metamorphosis of the simple leaf, which in a few clever folds, comes to life and arouses emotion. By sculpting cardboard animals, I feel that I am completely in tune with my theme of pre- dilection, namely the environment. I like to choose animals with a certain power, a priori in contradiction with the fragility of the cardboard I use. By this duality between the subject and its matter, I am trying in my own way to alert about the precariousness of animal species."
Hervé MAURY - paints animals as one paints landscapes or portraits, "living natures" funny and seductive in their apparent simplicity. Pigments and other materials mingle, movements and reliefs gush, fixing on each canvas a privileged moment. The artist makes his enchanted bestiary an accomplice family of a daily in search of exoticism and absolute poetry. The works of the artist are permanently presented abroad, Casablanca (Morocco), Glasgow (Scotland), Hong Kong (China), Washington (United States), London (England)... as well as in a dozen galleries and exhibition places on the French territory.
