Elephants beach

The Elephants beach, located a stone's throw from the city center of Sainte-Maxime, was made famous by Jean de Brunhoff's comic strip "Voyage de Babar", published in 1932.

The creator of Babar was staying in this area of Sainte-Maxime and, in front of the beautiful landscape that was offered to him, was inspired to illustrate the famous balloon wedding trip of Babar and his wife Celeste.

Today, De Brunhoff House still exists and still looks at the sea.
