A perfumed journey to discover over 130 km
In these exceptional lands, the Mimosa Route stretches over 130 km from Bormes les Mimosas to Grasse. This tourist itinerary, to be discovered from January to March, is typically the symbol of a winter Côte d’Azur.
During this period, each stage/city offers activities: walks, visits to forceries, excursions... But also events such as corsos in bloom or carnivals!
A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY
Around 1880, the mimosa, originally from Australia, made its appearance on the slopes of the Croix des Gardes in Cannes, probably introduced by one of the great winter guests, such as the Duke of Vallombrosa, the Marquis de Morès or Lord Brougham.
The Horticultural and Acclimatisation Society then contributed greatly to its promotion. From then on, mimosa growers multiplied in the region, in Mandelieu, Pégomas, Tanneron or La Roquette. From the stations of Cannes and Mandelieu, the mimosa was sent to all the major cities of France and Europe.
MIMOSA IN PERFUMERY
The most beautiful brands of the French perfumery have used mimosa in their most famous fragrances... The mimosa mainly used is the cassier mimosa (acacia farnesiena), but the evolution is turning more towards the wild mimosa.
