Description
The result of a creative partnership between Souhail Marchiche and Mehdi Meghari, *Le Grand bal* is a dance drama performed by eight intense and radiant dancers.
Always curious and eager to create their own vocabulary, the two choreographers continually reinvent hip-hop through a multifaceted language, elevated by the unrestrained expressiveness of their faces and bodies.
Bathed at times in strobe-like orange light and at other times in a misty halo, the dancers of the Dyptik company throw themselves wholeheartedly into a profound artistic experience that pushes the boundaries of dance and celebrates the power of movement. From the very first notes that resonate through the hall to the vibrating stage, their bodies—which have remained motionless, isolated, and under pressure for far too long—will find fulfillment only in the rebellion and fervor of synchronized dance, exulting through hypnotic rhythms. Their unbearable unease will find release only in the redemptive power of Patrick De Oliveira’s music. The writer-choreographers transform personal introspection into a collective journey through a cathartic dance that galvanizes the group just as much as it fascinates the audience, who are invited to experience a new form of ceremony—a vast, tumultuous ensemble movement, tumultuous, bordering on trance, which paradoxically highlights each individual’s uniqueness. Each distinctiveness is marked by the expressive power of their faces. Between light and darkness, slowness and agitation.
AFTER THE SHOW: After-party in the Grand Hall of Le Carré! An immersive extension of the show in the form of a participatory dance floor blending dance and a DJ set. A collective celebration to enjoy together, alongside the dancers and DJs of Kubilai Khan Investigations.
