Description
This unique, free event will begin with the screening of a 25-minute documentary, followed by a discussion between the audience and various stakeholders in fire prevention (local elected officials, firefighters, farmers, ranchers, etc.).
Faced with an increasing risk of wildfires—fueled by ever-rising temperatures, longer periods of drought, and growing visitor traffic in natural areas—the preservation of our forests is, now more than ever, a major challenge for the safety of residents and property, the protection of our landscapes, and the sustainability of the environment.
Forest protection is now entirely the responsibility of the Golfe de Saint-Tropez Community of Municipalities, which exercises this authority and takes concrete actions every day to maintain the woodlands and anticipate the threats they face.
Comprising interviews and footage shot in the field, the documentary “Gulf of Saint-Tropez: A Region Committed to Combating Fire Risk” presents the actions carried out throughout the year by the Community of Municipalities’ forestry department to protect forests against wildfires (DFCI). Maintenance of forest roads, management of the interfaces between natural areas and urbanized zones, the Intermunicipal Pastoral Land Use Plan (POPI), and the preservation of agricultural firebreaks: these are all concrete actions that demonstrate the commitment of elected officials and all stakeholders to anticipating risks and strengthening protection.
Fire prevention is a priority that is built up throughout the year and a collective responsibility in which everyone, at their own level, can contribute to reducing risks and preserving our region.
