Description
Under the direction of this award-winning director, *Little Red Riding Hood* becomes a transcendent and poetic theatrical and human adventure about the journey into adulthood.
A true legend of the stage, etched in gold in the pantheon of our memories.
As a young reader of Perrault’s famous fairy tale—popularized by the Brothers Grimm—Joël Pommerat, once he became an adult, chose the theater to bring to life the flood of images that had moved him so deeply. Thus was born *Little Red Riding Hood* in 2004, followed by *Pinocchio* in 2008 and *Cinderella* in 2011—three unforgettable masterpieces of intelligence and beauty. Here, while remaining faithful to the original tale, his reimagining “weaves an intimate and profound story where loneliness, fear, desire, and the transition to adulthood” and intertwines the fates of three generations of women, mirroring three stages of life: a little girl with no brothers or sisters, a mother without a partner, and a grandmother who is likely a widow... A coming-of-age tale for the director, who—in a mysterious semi-darkness and a magical soundscape—allows us to experience moments of grace, delicacy, tension, and even fear, and guides us along the path to understanding. When we must learn to grow up, to find the courage to venture into the unknown, to face the world and our fears—those of our childhood and those of the present.
