You simply can’t visit Sainte-Maxime without popping along to its markets! Thesevibrant hubs of activity reflect the full richness of the Provençal countryside and the warm atmosphere of the South of France – and, more specifically, the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. With their colours, scents and flavours, they offer a complete immersion in the local way of life that you can savour with every step. In Sainte-Maxime, our markets embody the warmth, sharing and generosity of the South. Visiting them means taking your time, savouring life’s simple pleasures and soaking up the very soul of the destination.

Heart of the city  The regional produce market

Every Thursday morning, the town comes to life around the Provençal market. Set in the heart of Sainte-Maxime, it brings together local producers, craftspeople and traders. Here you’ll find sun-kissed fruit and vegetables, aromatic herbs, distinctive cheeses, artisanal charcuterie and, of course, olive oil and rosé wine – the region’s hallmarks.

Strolling through its aisles is also a chance to discover regional specialities, chat with passionate producers and fill your basket with authentic flavours.

The local farmers’ market: all year round, every Thursday morning – Place du Marché and adjacent pedestrianised streets.

Place Jean Mermoz  The Friday market

On Friday mornings, head to Place Jean Mermoz to explore Sainte-Maxime’s iconic market. Here, the atmosphere is friendly and the stalls line up one after the other, offering clothing, accessories, homewares and a wide selection of other items.

It’s the perfect market for a leisurely stroll in search of bargains and to enjoy a friendly atmosphere right in the heart of the town.

The Sainte-Maxime market runs all year round on Friday mornings – Place Jean Mermoz.

Flower-filled Patio  The Patio Fleuri Market

Every Monday, the Patio Fleuri hosts a small-scale market – a genuine neighbourhood market. With its intimate atmosphere, it appeals to locals and visitors alike who are looking for a sense of community and authenticity. You can find a bit of everything there, in a warm and relaxed atmosphere, ideal for a gentle start to the week.

The Patio Fleuri market is open all year round on Monday mornings and, from 1 April to 30 September, on Monday and Friday mornings.

Heart of the city  The covered market

Open every day, the covered market is a must-visit for food lovers. Fruit, vegetables, cheeses, meat, fish and local specialities fill the stalls. Very handy on rainy days, it allows you to enjoy the atmosphere of the Maximois markets whilst staying out of the rain, and to fill your basket with the very best local produce.

 The buzz in the markets

Sainte-Maxime is a lively place all year round, and its pop-up markets mark the changing seasons.

In summer, evenings come alive on the seafront with the craft and night market, where local designers and craftspeople sell jewellery, ceramics, paintings and decorative items in a friendly and festive atmosphere.

At the end of the year, the magic begins with the Christmas market and its illuminated chalets, whilst other one-off events, such as the spring flower market, showcase the very best of Provençal craftsmanship.
