Why have your property assessed?
FINANCIAL BENEFITS
Classification as a furnished holiday let entitles you to tax benefits.
- The tourist tax for unclassified holiday let properties is calculated based on the price per night. However, for classified accommodation, only the star rating is taken into account for the tourist tax. For more information on the payment of the tourist tax, clickhere.
- You are entitled to free membership of the Agence Nationale pour les Chèques-Vacances.
PROMOTIONAL AND COMMERCIAL BENEFITS
With the growing range of options and increasing competition, customer expectations are constantly rising. They demand better service, high-quality facilities and peace of mind. For any tenant, having an official classification as a holiday let is a guarantee of quality and reliability. Star ratings remain one of the main criteria for tourists when making their choice. Guests are assured that they will be staying in a property that has been inspected.

How do I apply for classification?
If your property is situated in the municipality of Sainte-Maxime, you can contact the Furnished Accommodation Classification Service at the Sainte-Maxime Tourist Office to have your property classified.
If your property is situated outside the municipality of Sainte-Maxime, the Furnished Accommodation Quality Service will not be able to process your classification application.
What are the steps involved?
- The first step is to decide which category (1 to 5 stars) you wish to be classified in. The service can help you determine your category based on the size, capacity and type of your property.
- Once the category has been determined, the department will carry out an inspection visit to check that your property meets a set of criteria. There is a charge for this visit and the subsequent procedure, and you are responsible for the cost. An inspection certificate will be sent to you. This certificate will confirm your classification, provided your property meets:
- At least 95 per cent of the mandatory criteria
- A minimum number of optional points, depending on the defined category,
- The necessary compensatory optional points if 100 per cent of the mandatory criteria are not met.
- The essential criteria for cleanliness and maintenance.
