Description
To defy the passage of time, choreographer Philippe Decouflé celebrates the beauty of artists of all ages by creating sensitive dances rich in history.
A way for us to experience, together, the inexorable passage of time through shared movements and lively songs, in a flamboyant production that only he knows how to create.
As a child, Philippe Decouflé dreamed of becoming a comic-book artist, but his discovery of the characters in Oscar Schlemmer’s “Triadic Ballet” changed his course. And that’s just as well, since in 1992, he choreographed the opening and closing ceremonies of the XVI Winter Olympic Games in Albertville! Since then, with his DCA Company, he has continued to breathe a spirit of joyful and colorful inventiveness into French contemporary dance. Now, make way for tender embraces, balancing acts, rhythmic marches, strangely masked eyes, ballet steps, and memories recounted aloud… A breeze—sometimes light, sometimes solemn—carries the artists away in the joy of reunion and the pleasure of donning the costumes of a thousand and one characters brought together in this choreographic novel, danced to Madonna’s “La Isla Bonita” or Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive”! A novel in which we wish we’d never see the word “the end” written, so deeply does it pay a sensitive and masterful tribute to dance, cabaret, the circus, and silent film—all of which the tireless Philippe Decouflé adores.
